Cynthia Shilwatso Musungu is a Kenyan attacking midfielder currently in the books of Turkish Women’s Football Super League club Beşiktaş. Renowned for her skill, creativity, and powerful long-range goals, she has established herself as a key player on both domestic and international stages.
Shilwatso played a pivotal role in the Vihiga Queens’ dominance in Kenyan women’s football, helping them secure three FKF Women’s Premier League titles.
Her exceptional performances earned her a move to Spain, signing with EDF Logroño. She laten became one of the few Kenyan female footballers to feature in a top European league.
During the 2020-21 season, she played in Spain’s top-tier women’s league, the Primera División Femenina (now Liga F). Her introduction in the 76th minute against Real Madrid on March 3, 2021, was a notable highlight.
Shilwatso later joined Fountain Gate Princess in Tanzania before signing with FC Kryvbas in Ukraine. Yesterday, Beşiktaş officially announced her transfer, marking another significant milestone in her career.
On the international stage, Shilwatso has been a vital member of Kenya’s national women’s football team, the Harambee Starlets.
Fans fondly recall her crucial goal in last year’s WAFCON qualifier against Cameroon at Nyayo Stadium, where her second-half strike levelled the first-leg score, leading to Kenya’s dramatic 4-3 victory on penalties.
Admired for her vision, passing, and goal-scoring ability, Shilwatso continues to inspire young female footballers across Kenya.
