ODM faction Calls for Ruto’s Impeachment after Gachagua

Several members of parliament for the ODM party, led by MP Caleb Amisi, addressed President William Ruto with a request to impeach him. They assisted him in removing the Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua, and now they want a piece of the government.

Caleb Amisi, a member of parliament representing Saboti, leaked this information and said that members of parliament linked with the ODM were opposed to impeaching former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on the grounds that they intended to attack both President Ruto and his deputy at the same time.

Due to a majority of ODM members voting in favour of the impeachment resolution in both the National Assembly and the Senate, the ODM significantly contributed to the process of impeaching the former DP.

Amisi, on the other hand, stated that Raila Odinga, the head of Azimio la Umoja, who also serves as the leader of the ODM, had instructed them to concentrate on Gachagua’s impeachment first before following Ruto.

The legislator admitted that impeaching Gachagua and Ruto would be a difficult endeavour.

Amisi apologised to his voters for supporting the impeachment of Gachagua, following a directive from Odinga. He said that the instruction came from Odinga.

“I was among the members who voted in favour of the impeachment motion against Gachagua.

“I went and asked Baba (Raila Odinga): Why are we meddling in other people’s fights, yet we want to send them all home?”

Baba then responded, “Now that you wanted to send them all home and a chance to send one home has arisen, why don’t you deal with him first, then deal with the other?” said Amisi.
