Rigathi Gachagua Alleges State Surveillance of His Privacy

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua claims that security agents in unmarked cars have been following him wherever he goes.

Security agents in unmarked cars are parking at the entrance of his Nairobi residence, taking note of all his visitors, and following him whenever he leaves the house.

The former DP said, “Security agents in unmarked cars have been following me wherever I go.

“They park at the entrance of my Nairobi residence, keeping track of all my visitors, and they follow me whenever I leave the house, even when I travel to my rural home in Nyeri.”

“The saloon car below, parked at my residence’s entrance last Sunday, followed me to PCEA Kerarapon Church, to my late lunch spot, and back to my house! I discovered through the NTSA portal that the number plates belong to a truck.

“The last time we saw this surveillance and intimidation of Kenyans was during the 24 years of Moi’s misrule, under the dreaded ‘Special Branch’!

“In this era of extrajudicial killings, forced abductions, and disappearances by state agents, I believe it is crucial to inform Kenyans about the harassment and intimidation I am experiencing and to urge them to hold the state accountable if state agents harm me.”

“I request the state to leave me alone! You hounded me out of office, and you should now allow me to enjoy my peace as a private citizen.”
