For the purpose of requesting an inquiry into the administration of the South Imenti National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF), political activist Salesio Thuranira has sent a letter to the EACC.
In a formal letter to the commission, Thuranira demanded that the commission summon the South Imenti NG-CDF committee, its chairman (the local member of parliament, Shadrack Mwiti), contractors, and suppliers connected to the fund.
He accuses these individuals of acting as proxies for the member of parliament who is involved in financial misconduct.
The departure of the NG-CDF chairman has raised concerns about the fund’s accountability and transparency, leading to a request for an inquiry.
Residents of South Imenti, on the other hand, are contesting the move, with many questioning why the chairman left so abruptly and whether it had anything to do with the corruption allegations currently under investigation.
Currently, they are seeking further clarification about whether or not the resignation was an effort to cover up mismanagement, and they are asking for a complete investigation into the circumstances behind the departure.
