Kwachocha, Malindi Plane Crash Claims Lives on Highway

The latest information on the Malindi plane crash indicates that a light aircraft crash-landed on the Malindi-Mombasa highway in the Kwachocha area of Malindi, Kenya, on January 10, 2025. Here’s a summary of the key details:

Three people were reported dead in the crash. These included a motorcycle taxi driver (boda boda rider), a pillion passenger, and a bystander on the ground when the incident occurred.

The plane also injured three individuals on board, which included a pilot, an instructor, and a student, who sustained minor injuries and were treated at Tawfiq Hospital.

The aircraft involved was a Cessna 172 operated by Kenya Aeronautical College. It reportedly developed a technical hitch during a routine training flight, which forced an emergency landing on the highway.

The accident claimed the life of Felix Hamisi, a.k.a. Papa Vidic, which happened from a devastating accident at KwaChocha, Malindi, in which a Malindi Airport training aircraft went off course, claiming his life along with others.

He, and Mashamba Primary School headteacher Mdm. Naomi Nyiro, met their untimely death at the scene.

Felix was among the founders of Ganda Bodaboda Sacco, therefore being one of the key visionaries of this program. He tirelessly worked to mobilize and inspire the youth around him, igniting a sense of purpose and unity.
