Police in Huruma, Nairobi, arrest a 29-year-old man carrying a thorax believed to belong to his missing 19-year-old wife.
The suspect identified as John Kiama Wambua was searched by police officers in Huruma, Nairobi County, on Tuesday, January 21.
During a search, the suspect confessed that the body parts belonged to his 19-year-old wife, Joy Fridah Munani, who was confirmed dead.
Further, the man led the officers back to his house, where more dismembered parts were recovered below a bed.
The suspect, John Kiama Wambua, was stopped during a patrol while carrying a suspicious bag, which was found to contain the thorax stashed in a cement bag.
Detectives from the Starehe Directorate of Criminal Investigations are investigating the gruesome murder and working to recover the missing remains while probing the motive, which may involve occultism.
“Police in Huruma, Nairobi Area, on 21/01/2025 at about 0500 hrs while on patrol within the Kelly Towers Area arrested a male adult suspect carrying a bag on his back.
“Upon conducting a search, we found a bag stashed with body parts of a human being,” a statement from the police read in part.
In addition to the dismembered body parts, police also discovered a blood-stained kitchen knife and female clothing, believed to be linked to the murder at the scene.
“Also recovered from the crime scene were a blood-stained kitchen knife and female clothes suspected to have been the weapon of murder and clothes for the deceased, respectively. The floor of the house was stained with blood,” added the police statement.
The body parts have been moved to the city mortuary awaiting postmortem analysis.
