An unidentified flying object was spotted over Turkana and Marsabit counties on Thursday evening.
Residents reported seeing the large object in the sky, with unclear images showing it engulfed in flames.
The unidentified flying object that was seen hovering above various northeastern parts of Kenya on Thursday evening has reportedly crashed in Moyale.
Local witnesses have described it as space debris believed to have fallen from a satellite. It made a huge landing impact and produced a distinct burning smell.
Makueni fallen object
Following the discovery of a heavy metallic object that fell from the skies and landed in Mukuku in Makueni County on Monday, December 31, 2024, the government responded to clarify the situation.
The Kenya Space Agency (KSA) revealed that they had taken over the scene where the material fell, dispelling fears that residents were initially handling the object freely.
The object, described as a metallic ring measuring approximately 2.5 meters in diameter and weighing about 500 kg, was identified as a fragment of a space object.
The agency stated that such objects are typically designed to fall over unoccupied areas after burning up in the atmosphere, and they had launched investigations into why this particular fragment did not follow that pattern.
