Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, popularly known as “Riggy G,” made a notable entrance in Murang’a County early on February 2, 2025, to attend a church service at the Almighty God Ministries Shiloh Church in Kiriaini town.
His arrival was amidst heightened security and local political fervour, as reported by a Bana reporter from Kiriaini.
Local leaders and supporters expressed concerns over potential disruptions, urging peace and calling for sufficient police presence to ensure the event proceeded smoothly.
Gachagua’s visit to Murang’a has been a point of interest due to his ongoing political activities following his tenure as Deputy President.
His presence in the church was seen by some as a continued effort to engage with the electorate and maintain his political influence in the region.
The event was highlighted by speeches from local leaders emphasising peace, with Senator Joe Nyutu and MCAs Grace City and Kamau Kagori among those present, advocating for youth to avoid political interference.
This gathering at the church service reflects Gachagua’s strategy to connect with the community, leveraging religious gatherings for political outreach, which has been a trend in Kenyan politics.
