The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has called in Geoffrey Mosiria, who is the Chief Officer for the Environment in Nairobi, to answer questions about illegal waste dumping at Kenya Power offices in Nairobi.
DCI Director Amin Mohammed spoke to a committee in the National Assembly about this issue.
He mentioned that Mosiria and other senior officials, including John Malawi (Director of Environment), Tiras Njoroge, Charles Kerich, Maurine Njeri, and Nahashon Muguna, have been asked to come in and give their statements about what happened.
Several county officials are also being questioned. These include William Kangongo (Head of Enforcement), Eva Wariuki (Chief Officer of Security and Compliance), James Sankale (Head of Debt Collection Unit), John Antoiti (Revenue Collection Director), Steve Ogesa (Director of Parking), and Fredrick Omolo (Starehe Rural Enforcement).
This investigation has already led to the arrest of three county workers: Augustine Otieno Osore (a driver), Moses Gitari, and Alice Okari (a machine operator).
The purpose of the investigation is to find out who is responsible for serious crimes like illegal dumping, robbery with violence, and blocking traffic.
