Why 40Forty Lounge? What People Miss at 40Forty Lounge

As the sun goes down in Westlands, Nairobi, the 40Forty Lounge at Stellato Mall offers a fancy place to enjoy nightlife with its stylish rooftop and beautiful views of the city.

However, many people who visit are starting to share what they feel is missing from this popular spot.

40Forty Lounge is on Muthithi Road and promotes itself as an upscale place with a nice design, great cocktails, and a vibe for a more mature crowd.

It is open every day from 11 AM to 6 AM and has been owned by Allan and Irene Igambi since it opened in 2017. The venue includes a main club, a balcony, and an outdoor terrace, all providing different views of Nairobi’s night skyline.

For lots of people, this is the place to go for good music, exciting DJ performances, and the chance to meet both local and visiting people.

Many online comments praise the lounge’s “amazing views” and “fun weekends,” making it a popular choice in Westlands.

But not everything is perfect. Looking at online reviews shows that what people miss at 40Forty Lounge often overshadows the positive aspects.

Some visitors mention rude staff and unhelpful management. One person on Tripadvisor shared a story about a waiter who laughed when they asked for soft drinks.

They said, “They laughed and said, ‘You’re in a club,’ then offered only water,” which is a feeling shared by others discussing their experiences.

Non-drinkers, in particular, complain about the lack of mocktails, which goes against the lounge’s aim to be inclusive.

The energy in the lounge also seems to cause issues. While some people enjoy the lively music and large dance floor, others feel restricted in how they can dance.

One visitor mentioned on X that they were told to calm down for being “too energetic,” questioning, “What’s a club for if not to move? #40FortyFail.”

This shows a gap between the lounge’s upscale image and the wishes of younger, more energetic guests, especially since many favour a more relaxed atmosphere for those 35 and older.

The drink situation raises more concerns. Although 40Forty advertises its premium cocktails, some guests notice problems with quality and consistency.

Online comments mention cocktails that are too weak and menus that mislead—like an “Old Fashioned” made with Tennessee whiskey instead of the usual bourbon.

One reviewer wrote, “Great vibe, but don’t expect standout drinks,” which is a common opinion among people searching for the best drinks in Nairobi.

The food also gets mixed reviews; while some love the chicken wings, others feel the limited snack options leave them wanting more.
