Cosmo Choy Feel Betrayed by Ruto Over Unfulfilled Job Pledge

Cosmas Ombori Monari, known as Cosmo Choy, is a Kenyan living in the US who has shown strong support for President William Ruto.

Recently, Choy accused Ruto of leading him to quit his trucking job in the US by promising him a high-ranking government position, which never happened. Choy feels betrayed and says Ruto has stopped answering his calls.

In many emotional posts on social media, Choy explained how Ruto, whom he calls a “great friend,” persuaded him to leave his job at Ryder, a big trucking company, to “come home and serve the country.”

Choy announced in February 2025 that he was resigning from his job to run for a parliamentary seat in Embakasi East in 2027. He now believes that the promise of becoming a Principal Secretary was a major reason he returned to Kenya.

“I quit my job in the US because Ruto told me to come and serve as a PS. Now he doesn’t pick my calls,” Choy said in a viral video, which has sparked a lot of reactions online.

This situation has led to many discussions on social media. Some people are making fun of Choy’s situation, while others are criticizing Ruto’s government for being misleading.

One person posted, “Cosmo Choy was tricked by Ruto—he left his US job for empty promises. That’s what happens when you trust a government built on lies.”

Another user said, “Cosmo claims Ruto told him to quit his US job to serve in Kenya. Now he has no job, and Ruto isn’t answering him. This is a government of deception.”

Choy was a strong supporter of Ruto during the 2022 presidential campaign and gained attention for his vocal support of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and criticism of former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

He met Ruto during the president’s visit to the US in 2022 and was praised for bringing together Kenyans living abroad. However, Choy has now expressed disappointment with Ruto’s leadership, having previously criticized the government for poor economic management and broken promises in 2023.

Sources close to the President’s office say that no official job offer was made, and Choy’s claims might be due to a misunderstanding.

Choy’s situation reminds many of other Ruto supporters who feel left out after the 2022 election.

Despite this, Choy plans to continue his political ambitions, including his goal to run for parliament in 2027. “I trusted my friend, but I won’t give up,” he stated in a recent post.
