Claims that actor Kim Soo Hyun was involved in planning a violent attack on a person who revealed a controversial recording related to the late Kim Sae Ron have been proven false.
On May 19, the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in New York announced that there is no record of any Korean citizen being arrested or involved in a serious crime, like attempted murder, in the U.S.
This is important because it follows the rules of international law.
The person who claimed to be a victim, referred to as A, said they were stabbed nine times in the neck in New Jersey by two men—one Korean and one Chinese—and that the attack was connected to Kim Soo Hyun.
However, the consulate confirmed that local authorities have not reported any such case.
YouTuber Kim Se Ui, who leads the Garosero Research Institute, held a press conference on May 7, claiming that A had been hurt and that the attackers had been caught. He also said that FBI records linked the attackers to Kim Soo Hyun through phone calls.
However, there were many inconsistencies in A’s story. Later, A changed their account, saying only their arm was hurt.
A medical report showed injuries to the right shoulder and left hand, which did not match the original claim of nine stab wounds to the neck.
This situation started with a manipulated audio recording that A allegedly provided. In this recording, Kim Sae Ron appears to say she dated Kim Soo Hyun in 2015 when she was still a minor.
However, a journalist-turned-YouTuber, Lee Jin Ho, shared a forensic report that suggested the recording was likely made using artificial intelligence and was altered.
Lee also claimed that A tried to contact him and Kim Soo Hyun’s team to ask for money, which they refused.
Kim Soo Hyun’s agency has not made a formal statement but is watching the situation closely.
