Mikey Madison, who recently won an Oscar for her amazing performance in the movie Anora, will star with Kirsten Dunst in a new thriller called Reptilia. This film is directed by Alejandro Landes Echavarría.
Reptilia is an independent movie produced by a strong team, including Pastel (known for Moonlight), Imperative Entertainment (which worked on Killers of the Flower Moon), and AF Films.
The film will start selling at the Cannes Film Market through Charades, UTA Independent Film Group, and 30West, with financial support from Black Bear.
The story of Reptilia is written by Landes Echavarría and Duke Merriman. It follows a dental hygienist who gets drawn into the mysterious world of Florida’s exotic animal trade after meeting a magical mermaid.
Filming for the movie is set to start this fall. Landes Echavarría will also produce the film through his company, A STELA CINE.
Mikey Madison became well-known for her roles in Scream 5 and Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. She gained more recognition for Anora, which won five Academy Awards and the Cannes Palme d’Or in 2024.
Her awards include a BAFTA Award for Best Leading Actress and an Independent Spirit Award for Best Lead Performance, along with nominations for a Golden Globe, SAG Award, and Critics’ Choice Award.
Kirsten Dunst, who was recently in the movie Civil War, will next appear in a film called Roofman with Channing Tatum and another one called The Entertainment System Is Down for A24.
Alejandro Landes Echavarría is known for his 2019 film Monos, which won a special award at Sundance and was Colombia’s entry for the Oscars. He is bringing his unique style to Reptilia.
The producing team includes Imperative Entertainment, led by Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas, who recently worked with Martin Scorsese on Killers of the Flower Moon, and Pastel, headed by Barry Jenkins, Adele Romanski, and Mark Ceryak.
Imperative’s upcoming projects include A Big Bold Beautiful Journey with Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell, which will be released in September by Sony.
