Impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua seeks to modify his request in court. Instead of asking to get his job back, he now wants money.
He believes that his removal from office was not done lawfully and that he should be paid for what he would have earned if he had served his full five-year term.
Gachagua, through his lawyer Paul Muite, told the court that he no longer wants to go back to his position and has dropped that request. His new plan is to get financial compensation for the time he missed while not in office.
Lawyer Paul Muite explained to the judge that they want to change their earlier request and replace it with a request for money.
He made it clear that Gachagua is not interested in making any other legal requests right now and asked the court to schedule the earliest date to hear the new petition.
Muite also told the court that this case is a private matter between Gachagua and the people who removed him from office, not a public issue.
