The Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay was full of colours and excitement on Saturday night, May 31, 2025. Thousands of people came together for the 62nd Madaraka Day celebrations, and the stadium was completely packed by midnight.
This event was special because it was the first time Madaraka Day was celebrated in Homa Bay, a place known for supporting the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, led by Raila Odinga. He has now joined forces with President William Ruto for a united government.
Robert Alai, a Member of County Assembly (MCA) from Kileleshwa, shared pictures on social media showing the lively crowd under bright lights, with many people wearing colourful clothes like jerseys and jackets.
Surprised by the large crowd, Alai suggested that the people in the stadium should leave by 6:00 AM to make room for a new crowd coming in for the celebrations in the morning.
He encouraged the crowd, saying, “We must welcome new people. We began this journey when no one believed in us. Ruto is the president!” Check out the Photos below
