Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, popularly known as “Riggy G,” has opened up about a series of contentious interactions involving Kenya’s First Lady, Mama Rachel Ruto, and his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi.
In a recent church address, Gachagua detailed how these dynamics played out, including a dramatic incident where Pastor Dorcas allegedly saved him from a food poisoning attempt.
Gachagua’s revelations came during a speech where he recounted instances of humiliation faced by Pastor Dorcas due to directives from Mama Rachel’s office.
He claimed that the president had imposed restrictions on his wife’s attendance at certain events, citing protocol concerns.
“Mama Rachel’s office said she would be there because we were told before she comes, we have to confirm that Mama Rachel will only stay here,” Gachagua stated.
The former deputy president further alleged that President William Ruto had expressed discomfort with Gachagua and Pastor Dorcas attending events together, especially in the absence of the First Lady.
“The president said if I see her with you and my wife absent, it is bad picture,” he recounted, suggesting a deeper rift within the leadership circle.
In a startling revelation, Gachagua credited Pastor Dorcas with thwarting an attempt on his life through food poisoning.
He described how undercover agents allegedly tried to poison his food during an event in Kisumu County after paying his close people millions.
This incident is part of a broader narrative where Gachagua has accused the government of multiple assassination attempts before his impeachment.
The allegations have sparked renewed debate about the security and personal safety of high-ranking officials in Kenya, as well as the influence of spouses in political decision-making.
