Nobody forewarns you of the wrath of a jealous mother-in-law, despite the saying that “hell hath no fury like a woman scorned”. I’m Winnie, and I thought I was living my dream for a while. I had a modest but contented house, a devoted husband, and a healthy baby girl. However, I was unaware that my greatest adversary resided within my home, not outside.
Subtle jabs were the first. For example, “Where I come from, we don’t give our children bottled milk,” or “Women from our home cook better.” I dismissed it, assuming it was only a matter of culture.
