Bots crashes CAF ticket portal minutes after sales go live

Kenyan football fans are currently very upset because the online ticket website for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) stopped working on Tuesday. This caused a lot of problems for people trying to buy tickets to see the Harambee Stars play in the CHAN 2024 tournament.

The website opened at noon but quickly became too busy, making it impossible for fans to get tickets. Bots flooded the ticketing system amid bulk buys from politicians, as alleged by sources.

“I kept refreshing the page for hours, but it kept crashing. It’s so frustrating because we want to support the team,” said James Ochieng, a big fan.

This ticketing problem comes after some recent issues.

CAF recently gave a fine of Sh12.8 million to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) because they did not ensure safety during three matches at Kasarani Stadium.

After some crowd trouble in a game against Morocco, CAF also reduced the number of people allowed in Kasarani from 48,000 to 27,000. They warned that if there are more problems, Kenya might have to host future games in other countries.
