Nothing wrong on Gachagua’s return, CS Murkomen changes tune

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has addressed the growing worries about the return of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Gachagua is coming back to Kenya on Thursday after spending six weeks in the United States.

Speaking at a meeting in Murang’a County about safety, Murkomen reassured everyone that there is no need to be concerned about Gachagua’s arrival.

He emphasized that security forces are ready to handle any issues that might arise.

“There are many people coming to Kenya every day, so I don’t understand why we should be worried about just one person coming,” Murkomen said.

He pointed out that the country has been peaceful while Gachagua was away, but he also mentioned that law enforcement will stay alert.

“In the last few weeks, while he was not here, the country has been very calm. So, maybe security forces should be ready just in case things become more difficult when he returns,” Murkomen added.

During the meeting, Murkomen also spoke about the problem of criminal gangs that are starting to appear again in parts of Central Kenya, which have been scaring the local people.

“These gangs are able to survive because of political support. They are taking money from locals and getting protection from some politicians. These are the same groups that are organized for protests. We are going to take strong action against them,” he promised.
