On the morning of Friday, August 1, 2025, something surprising happened in the busy River Road area of Nairobi. A woman burst out of a lodging, looking very scared and shouting loudly. People nearby were shocked by what they saw. Witnesses said the woman, who looked to be in her late twenties, was screaming as she came out of the lodging without any shoes on and shivering.
She ran into the crowded street, yelling “Uuuui Uuuui!” As she did this, boda boda riders and shopkeepers stopped what they were doing to watch. Security guards who were near the lodging quickly came to help. One guard explained to reporters, “At first, we thought something bad was happening inside, like a robbery or an attack. But then we heard her shouting about a man having a machine that nearly hurt her.” The man in question, whose identity has been withheld for legal reasons, reportedly checked into the lodging with the woman for a few minutes.
