Malala Urges Kisii Crowd to Bewitch Ruto in Viral Video

Malala urges the Kisii crowd to bewitch Ruto in a viral video that surfaced Friday evening, December 5, 2025, showing the former Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala openly calling on residents to use supernatural powers against President William Ruto during a heated political meeting in Kisii County.

In the footage, a visibly frustrated Malala addresses an audience of mostly DCP supporters who had gathered to discuss the party’s poor performance in recent Gusii by-elections. Speaking in Swahili, he says, “Wakisii mnatuangusha sana. Nasikia huko Kisii mnajua kuroga, si mroge huyu Kasongo tumalize mambo yake mara moja jameni.”

The crowd erupts in laughter and applause, with some shouting “tumeelewa!” (we understand), while others record the moment on their phones. Malala appears to double down, pointing at the audience and adding, “Mambo ya uchawi mnafanya vizuri, tumia hiyo power sasa!” before the video cuts off.

Other leaders quipped, “Hata sisi hatujawahi kufikia hiyo level ya kuroga Rais. Hii ni hatari sana.” Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, now a fierce Ruto critic, talked on the sidelines that “Kasongo amekasirisha hadi wale walikuwa wakimlick miguu.”

Kisii and Nyamira counties, once reliable vote baskets for the ruling party, delivered embarrassing defeats to UDA candidates in the November 2025 Bobasi Chache and West Mugirango by-elections.

Malala had not issued a personal apology. His social media account posted only a cryptic Bible verse about enemies being turned back in disgrace, further fuelling speculation that he stood by the remarks. Later posted, ‘DCP’s triplets successfully delivered. Congratulations, team. Mbele kuzuri.’

Malala urges the Kisii crowd to witchcraft. Ruto in the viral video now stands as one of the most controversial moments of the 2027 campaign season, exposing raw tensions and reigniting old regional stereotypes many thought had been buried.
