Sudi Revives Finland Scandal in Fresh Attack on Mandago

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has launched a strong verbal attack on Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago, telling him to cut the nonsense and accusing him again of misusing money meant for children’s education overseas. In a video making rounds online, Sudi demands a personal refund, saying he contributed heavily for many students to study in Finland only for the funds to vanish under Mandago’s watch as former governor.

The clip shows Sudi speaking directly and angrily. He says Mandago should stop talking rubbish because when he ran the county, he took money raised for other people’s kids through the Finland programme.

Sudi adds that he personally gave a lot to help numerous children travel abroad. Now he wants his own share back since the cash got eaten, as he puts it. The remarks come amid growing tension between the two leaders from the Rift Valley.

This feud pulls the old Finland scholarship mess back into the open. It started years ago when Uasin Gishu County under Mandago pushed an overseas education plan. Parents paid millions into county accounts and trust funds for spots in universities in Finland and Canada. Hundreds of families contributed, hoping for better chances for their children. But many students never left Kenya.

Investigations followed quickly, but nothing came out. Authorities charged Mandago and several county officials with misuse of over Sh1 billion, but later none was declared guilty. Court cases dragged on, with hearings in Nakuru and witness statements from affected parents, and nothing substantial happened to the culprits.

Some families said they sold land or took loans to pay fees that never led to visas or flights. Mandago denied wrongdoing from the start, calling it political targeting. The trial picked up again recently, keeping the issue alive for residents.

Sudi has spoken against Mandago on this before. Back in 2023, he claimed to have lost Sh10 million from fundraisers he joined. He urged selling assets to repay victims then too. Now, with fresh barbs, it looks like personal and political scores are mixing.

Uasin Gishu politics stays busy, with talks of future governor races and party fights inside UDA. Some locals see the clash as a power play between established figures.

Online, the video spread fast across Facebook and WhatsApp groups in the region. People comment on both sides. A few backs for Sudi for keeping pressure on accountability. Others say bringing up old cases distracts from current work like roads and water projects. Parents who lost money still follow court updates closely, hoping for refunds or justice.

Mandago has not replied publicly to the latest shots yet. His office stayed quiet when reached earlier. Supporters argue the matter sits in court, so political attacks outside add little. They point to developments in the county since his time, like new schools and health centres.

Rift Valley leaders often cross paths in national and local matters. Differences show now in sharp words over past scandals.

For families hit hardest by the programme, any spotlight helps. Some got partial refunds through county efforts years ago. Others wait on court outcomes. The saga left marks on trust in public fundraisers for education.

Residents in Eldoret and surrounding areas discuss it over tea or in matatus. Young people especially remember friends who packed bags but never boarded planes. Calls for transparency in county spending come up often.

This exchange between Sudi and Mandago adds heat to local debates. Court dates continue, and people watch for real progress. Meanwhile, leaders trade words that keep old wounds open. Uasin Gishu moves forward, but memories of dashed dreams linger for many households. The video keeps views climbing as more share opinions. Politics here rarely stays quiet for long.
