Row brews as state denies DP Rigathi Gachagua military jet and cash

Certain segments of the regional press are stating that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was denied access to a military helicopter so he could not attend the Madaraka Day festivities in Bungoma County.
This was the third time in a month that Gachagua was unable to use a military chopper for official duties.
The associates of DP Gachagua said that he was told he had to rent a commercial jet since he was unable to utilise the military chopper because of “poor weather.”

The same issue occurred days earlier when Gachagua was assigned by President Ruto to fly to Bungoma for preparations ahead of Madaraka Day celebrations but the authorization was withdrawn at the last minute.

According to the defence docket, Gachagua did not use the military VIP section in Bungoma, and his office did not receive a request from the Deputy President’s office as required by protocol.
It also stated that requests are evaluated based on availability and that the military does not always provide leaders with helicopters.
DP Gachagua’s supporters have now urged President Ruto to explain whether he belongs in the presidency or is just an ordinary politician.
