Zambia government ministers allocated themselves huge salaries despite IMF wage bill warning.


Zambia President Edgar Lungu and his ministers have given themselves hefty unconstitutional allowances amidst the announced austerity measures that government is implementing.


A minister will take home extra political allowance, Motor Vehicle allowances, utility allowance, and Non-Statutory allowance.


K480,654 equivalent Ksh. 3,804,348.01  as Political Allowance, K32,715,20 equivalent to Ksh. 25,893,887.52   as Motor Vehicle Replacement, K486,070 equivalent to Ksh.  3,847,215.33 as Utility Allowance and K997,500 equivalent Ksh. 7,895,153 as Non-Statutory Allowance. These are annually allowances.  


Presidential and other constitutional office holders salaries and allowances are approved by parliament. But it’s not clear how the PF approved these allowances amidst the announced austerity measures.
