Now it is evident that the Kilifi Deputy Governor Gideon Saburi contacted (shook hands) to many people than the listed earlier by the Kilifi county administration.

After he was tested Positive of COVID-19, majority of the people who came into contact have come out open and then tested. They are waiting for results.

" I have read with concern about Kilifi’s Deputy Governor Gideon Saburi who has been diagnosed with the Coronavirus. He met with Hon Raila Odinga the day before I met with Raila. The day after I met Hon Raila I also bumped into Gov. Amason Kingi who was wearing a mask. We remembered not to shake hands. I commended him for wearing a mask. Just as Gov Kingi has now taken precautions and gone into self-isolation, I too will immediately go to the hospital today to be checked for Corona and I will immediately enter into self-isolation for the 14 days starting from Thursday when I met Gov. Kingi, " former Mombasa gubernatorial aspirant Mr Suleiman Shahbal stated.

" This stresses the importance that we should all apply to take care about infecting other people - even by accident. Had I know about Gideon Saburi and his possible infection I would have immediately gone into self-isolation. While we should not panic we must all stay responsible and do the right things. I have faith that God will eventually remove this plague from us. God help us all in these difficult times, " Mr Shahbal added.

" After learning that the deputy Governor Gideon Saburi tested I will have to self-quarantine. We bumped to the Deputy Governor at Tusky mall, Mtwapa. We talked with him. I was with Mtwapa Deputy OCS Benard Otemei. Now the Deputy OCS has complained of difficulty in breathing and he is under quarantine. He is awaiting tests to be conducted by Kilifi medics, " stated Mtwapa Base Commander Mathew Koech.

Malindi Mp Hon Aisha Jumwa’s now calls on the national government to declare Kilifi a priority county in the coronavirus fight.

“As might already be public knowledge, the alleged infection of Kilifi Deputy Governor Gideon Saburi with the contagious Covid-19 disease has sparked massive panic across the county, over fears that the patient might have infected others he came into contact with, on multiple public gatherings he attended before his admission in the hospital,” said Ms Jumwa.

Now the Ms Jumwa wants the National Emergency Response Committee on Coronavirus to rollout urgent measures for extensive screening of Kilifi residents.

‘’I am particularly worried about the capacity of the Kilifi health department to solely contain further spread of the virus within the county and the larger Coastal Region, at the moment given that this case was confirmed a week into the patient’s stay in the county after his return from the virus-stricken Germany,” said the Malindi MP.

Mr Saburi was forced into quarantine after he refused to self-isolate on his return from Germany.
