The Teachers Service Commission(TSC) award teachers sacrificed to ensure KCPE and KCSE exams were delivered.

Addressing media during the release of KCPE results at the KNEC headquarters in Nairobi, TSC CEO Nancy Macharia congratulated them, saying that they will be awarded for their sacrifice.

“I can assure the country that we have no intention of punishing any teacher who goes beyond the call of duty to help our learners,” Macharia said.

The move comes after Mrs Magdalene Kimani, the principal of Sosiani High School, was reprimanded by ministry officials for sharing her story of how she walked 20km daily to deliver KCSE exams.

She added that a number of the centre managers woke up early to ensure they got to exam containers in time to pick the papers.

“When we get the list from the KNEC, we shall acknowledge and reward such teachers including those who went beyond the call of duty to deliver credible examination,” the KNEC boss said.

Macharia said that the 2020 KCPE examination exercise involved 28,467 centre managers, 28,711 supervisors, 72,360 invigilators, and 4,756 examiners.
