Everton will try to avoid a fourth straight Premier League loss on Saturday when they host Crystal Palace at Goodison Park.
The Eagles came unexpectedly to defeat Wolverhampton Wanderers at home, while the Toffees fell on the road to Newcastle United in midweek.
Frank Lampard seemed to be picking up steam with Everton at the commencement of the current campaign after guiding the Toffees out of the drop zone the previous year. Everton went seven games without losing in all tournaments between the end of August and the start of October.
But since then, the Merseysiders have lost three games in a row, including a close 1-0 loss at Newcastle on Wednesday. They are now 15th in the Premier League standings, just one point above the bottom three teams.
As they prepare for their last five matches before the World Cup, Lampard has a lot to think about, but he will be optimistic that their match against Crystal Palace on Saturday may help them get back on track given their prior record against the Eagles.
Everton has never lost to Crystal Palace at Goodison Park. They beat them 3-2 last May, when Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored in the 85th minute to help them come back from a two-goal deficit and win all three points in a thrilling game.
The Toffees, who have scored only three goals in their opening five league games, are the side with the fewest goals scored at home this season. No team in the top division has scored fewer goals at home than the Toffees.
Lampard will be watching for signs of progress in the final third on Saturday since Everton only attempted one shot against Newcastle, which was unsuccessful.
