Tim Kipchumba, a successful businessman in the city, has said that he does not recognize the outcome of the UDA nomination for the Senate by-election in Elgeyo Marakwet.
The candidate used Twitter to say that they were unhappy with how democratic the United Democratic Alliance primaries were on Saturday.
William Kisang, who was the MP for Marakwet West until recently, was named the winner of the senatorial primary.
Kisang received 28,126 votes, which put him in the lead above his competitors, Kipchumba and Jonah Tanui, who each received 26,756 and 26,735 votes, respectively.
Kisang was happy with the decision, even though his competitors denied it and said there were a lot of problems with it.
"Thank you you Elgeyomarakwet! Thanks to our team and fellow aspirants! We articulated a better vision. But the UDA primaries, even as well intended to be Free and Fair by H.E @WilliamsRuto were marked by countless irregularities. We’ll issue statement soon!" he Twitted.
Kisang expressed his gratitude to God for the triumph and his contentment with the fact that the people's desire had been successful.
Kisang was pronounced the winner by Nicodemus Bore, who also served as the returning officer. Bore handed Kisang the party certificate.
In light of the fact that UDA is the most powerful party in the area, Kisang has a better chance than most of being elected senator in the by-elections that will take place on January 5, 2023.
The decision to hold a by-election was prompted by the resignation of Kipchumba Murkomen, who had been elected to the position of Cabinet Secretary for Roads on August 9 but then resigned after being appointed by William Ruto.
