Raila and Kalonzo in 2027 elections preparations

After losing the national elections in August to the ruling Kenya Kwanza alliance and its candidate for president at the time, Dr. William Ruto, the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party is now doing a thorough political analysis.

Preparation for the general elections of 2027 has already begun in Azimio, according to The Sunday Nation, as the organisation also gets ready for a future without former president Uhuru Kenyatta, who is likely to leave the organisation in the next few days.

According to research done by The Sunday Nation, the alliance seems to have decided that ODM party leader Raila Odinga will run for president for the sixth time in the 2027 election.

The newspaper claims that, given the decline of Martha Karua's popularity in the polls, arrangements are well under way to choose Kalonzo Musyoka, the head of the Wiper party, as Raila Odinga's running partner.

Karua would be made the deputy party leader of the Azimio coalition.

This was supposed to make up for the fact that she lost the position of running mate that she had been given in August.

When Uhuru Kenyatta confirms his resignation, Wycliffe Oparanya, a former governor of Kakamega County, is said to be in position to take over as head of the Azimio coalition.
