On Friday evening, President William Ruto met behind closed doors with elected officials from Kisumu and Migori counties in the Kisumu state residence. The officials came from both counties.

Plans for the region's overall growth were going to be discussed at this discussion.

Both the Governor of Kisumu, Anyang' Nyong'o, and his counterpart in Migori, Ochilo Ayako, were in attendance.

The President reportedly advocated for a cooperative and pleasant working relationship between his administration and himself, with the goal of improving the lives of the people who live in the country, according to a lawmaker who was present at the discussion but requested anonymity.

Kisumu leaders led by Nyong'o, Senator Tom Ojienda, and Members of Parliament Jared Okello (Nyando), Shakeel Shabbir (Kisumu East), Joshua Oron (Kisumu Central), Onyango Koyoo (Muhoroni), and Dr. James Nyikal (Seme) presented the President with a list of development projects that they would like to see completed.

The leaders mentioned the Kisumu-Kakamega-Mamboleo-Miwani road project that has been put on hold and asked for Ruto's assistance to have it finished so that transportation operations with neighboring counties, particularly Nandi, may be boosted.

Only Roza Akinyi Buyu and Aduma Awuor, representatives for Kisumu West and Nyakach, respectively, were not present during the night meeting. On the other hand, only Suna East MP Junet Mohammed and Suna West MP Francis Masara were not there from Migori.

Ahero Bypass, which is still under construction, rice farming projects, the rebirth of state-owned sugar mills to support cane cultivation, the Koru Soin multipurpose dam, and the problem of insecurity all came up during the conference. All of these topics were discussed by the leaders.

It is said that President Ruto recognized the region's allegiance to the leader of the ODM, Raila Odinga, but he urged the leaders to go forward in a manner that was free of politics and help the government in delivering on the promises made to Kenyans.

At the meeting, which was also attended by the PS of the Interior Raymond Omollo and the PS of Trade Alfed Kombudo, it was decided that there will be ongoing meetings with the leaders to discuss development plans, and that PS Omollo will serve as the link between the leaders and the various government departments.

The meeting was also attended by the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagau.
