The process of creating the Kayafungo Division has been given the go-ahead by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki, who has given direction to authoritative officials in Kaloleni.

Soon after he had commissioned the office of the assistant county commissioner in Mwanamwinga, he released the instructions to the Kaloleni sub-county.

Kindiki gave instructions to the effect that "I am instructing the county commissioner to undertake popular engagement within 30 days in order to enable the construction of Kayafungo Division and have the report presented to my office."

According to the CS, the move would help bring amenities closer to the public by guaranteeing simple access to essential state services. This will be accomplished by bringing services to more convenient locations.

Paul Katana, a member of parliament for the constituency of Kaloleni, praised the decision and called on the government to step in and assist in easing the suffering caused by hunger in the area.

Katana recounted the agony that the residents are enduring as a result of the failing rains that have stripped the area of its vegetation and left it parched and arid.

The CS went on to say, "I would ask that you come to my office on Monday with other leaders from the area so that we can strategize on how we can immediately start distributing humanitarian food."

Moreover, he said that the government would be drilling ten boreholes in Kaloleni over the course of the next three months.

"Look at these people; you could believe that they are upset with you, but I can promise you that it is because they are hungry."

"They want food; their livestock has been harmed, and we are begging the Kenya Kwanza to alter the ration in order to assist our people," added Katana.

Katana also pleaded with the authorities to allow residents to keep running local brew dens known as "Mnazi," saying that this is one of the primary businesses that contribute to money generation in the area.

In addition, in order to bolster security in the area, the deployment of more officers will occur, and Cabinet Secretary Kindiki has said that the long-serving police officers who are already stationed there will be transferred in a timely manner.

In addition to this, he issued orders for the renovation of the Gotani police station in order to improve the working conditions of the law enforcement officials who are stationed there.

"I also want all of the law enforcement agencies to cooperate hand in hand and investigate "disco matanga" to determine whether it promotes early marriages or pregnancies, and if it does, we will outlaw it. I want all of these agencies to investigate it together."

"When we notice that only 69 Percent of the kids have reported to Form 1, and the rest are at home, we cannot allow our children to drop out of school. Why? " The CS inquired.
