Detectives from the DCI are looking into how evangelist Elizabeth Githingi was killed. Her body was found at the home of Kikuyu gospel artist and pastor Mirugi Dishon.
According to a statement made at Kiamumbi police station on Saturday, Mirugi's ex-girlfriend Elizabeth paid him a surprise at his residence in Kahawa West.
He said to the authorities that while she had carried his suit from Nakuru, she had opted to clean both his residence and his clothing when she got there since they were both dirty.
He continued by saying that he had left the home to perform chores on Thika Road while she was cleaning the house.
The report claims that he went back home shortly after since he was unable to contact Elizabeth on her phone.
According to Mirungi, Elizabeth seemed to have hanged herself with a bedsheet in his closet when he got home.
Before heading to the Jacaranda Maternity Hospital, he says he unwrapped the corpse and moved it to his vehicle.
Medical staff at Jacaranda declined to pick up Elizabeth's corpse since she had already passed away, according to the police statement.
The body was still in his car when he went to the Kiamumbi police station, but they told him to go to the Kahawa West station instead.
Instead of picking up the corpse, police officers at Kahawa West urged the man to report the matter to the Kasarani police station.
In the Kasarani police station, things were no different; authorities there similarly denied his request to pick up the corpse, telling him that he ought to have reported the incident right away.
After going from police station to police station with the body in his car, he was given permission on Saturday night to take it to the Kenyatta University Mortuary.
On Sunday, the musician went back to the Kasarani police station to provide a statement regarding Elizabeth's death. The DCI murder officers, who are now in charge of the probe, also went with them.
