Pressure mounts on COTU boss Francis Atwoli as members force him to quit. Some of its members have formed their own organisations, saying they will also have parralel Labour Day celebrations.

The rival group has invited the president, deputy president, and some cabinet secretaries. However, sources claim that the COTU boss has been pleading with President William Ruto not to attend the rival event.

Pressure is mounting on long-serving COTU leader Francis Atwoli, as a rival group now claims it will hold parallel Labour Day celebrations and invite the president and many government officials. According to reports, Atwoli is trying to contact President Ruto and urge him not to attend the rivals' event or even support them.

Francis Atwoli has been battling with the rival group since President William Ruto began his term in 2023.

According to some sources, the government partially sponsors the group and plans to continue its operations as a means of releasing Francis Atwoli from the union after a protracted stay.
