If you are also shocked by Bishop Oginde’s net worth of Shs170 million, then you missed this rant from a CITAM member a few years ago.

On the Hope TV page, there was a social media beef between a girl child and the senior pastor of CITAM Valley Road.

She was deeply disappointed by the congregation's reliance on money-focused leadership at CITAM. The pastor, Charles Obara, attempted to raise Sh13 million for some daylight screens and even delivered a month of sermons criticising the congregation.

They did raise Sh5.2 million during the first fundraiser, but they never disclosed whether the second fundraiser met the target. The bashing put off many people, who wondered where their money went.

People online could not resist giving their opinion regarding today's men of God.

In addition to serving as a CITAM bishop, Dr. Oginde is an architect, and his wife is a lawyer and the company secretary for a multinational bank.

"After my residential relocation, I went to a church, where they instructed us to stay behind and provide our payslips so that they could assist me in calculating the tithes," a CITAM member said.

"For them, tithing is very strict, so they went ahead and gave me the form to fill out."

From the comments on social media, it's clear why certain pastors profit greatly from their congregants; they've instilled humorous teachings about "giving to God" that these people find hard to criticize, resulting in their "willing" contributions to the ministry.

"I continue to believe in God and pray regularly, but I have doubts about the current church and its leaders. The church has transformed into a political entity, with bishops and pastors acting as intermediaries, condoning same-gender marriages, affluent pastors, and impoverished congregants," another CITAM member said.

"In 2019, I went to Citam Kikuyu, and a guest pastor told us to give money towards his son’s international college fees.

"He even went so far as to suggest that his children should not apply for scholarships, despite the congregation's ability to cover the fees. I was disgusted," Njeri said in an interview.
