Businesswoman Veronica Mulwale Omurunga allegedly kidnapped by Police over Sh 2.6Billion KPLC tender
The family of Veronica Mulwale Omurunga, a businesswoman, has expressed concern over her disappearance.
Police officers allegedly supported the kidnapping of Ms. Omurunga in order to coerce her into handing over a company that recently won a lucrative tender at Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC).
She is a listed director of Yichtsu Enterprises Limited, alongside Bernard Konyi Rumenya. Both have 500 shares each.
Recently, Yichtsu received KPLC Last Mile project contracts worth about Sh2.6 billion.
Family sources report that they picked up Veronica today, Thursday, in the early afternoon from her workplace on Kindaruma Road in Kilimani.
She was then taken to Nairobi Area Police Regional Headquarters, but when the family went there, they were told that she had been transferred to Buruburu Police Station.
The family has not seen or contacted her by this evening, and the police have not disclosed the reasons for her arrest or detention.
Her legal representatives have denied her access, and no one is answering her phone.
“We suspect that some powerful forces are using the police to compel her to relinquish her shares in the company. They have probably taken over her gadgets so that they can approve the transfer of shares to some other persons,” the source said.
According to reports, Konyi, Veronica’s co-director, is transferring the shares in collaboration with a close associate of a member of the first family.
If they succeed, she has to resign and initiate the process of transferring shares through the Business Registration Services (BRS) online platform.
With the cabal possessing her and commandeering her gadgets, it will be easy to execute without any issues.
A Chinese associate of Veronica has been denied entry into the country after he travelled to Beijing.
He is now stranded in Beijing after being told that he couldn’t be allowed to enter Kenya.
