EACC will arraign ten Ol Kalou Constituency NG-CDF officials and directors of private firms accused of embezzling about Ksh 55.8 million that were supposed to be reimbursements for road improvements in the constituency but, in reality, were never completed before the Nyahururu Anti-Corruption Court.

The suspects, arrested on Friday, May 3rd, 2024, underwent processing at the EACC Nyeri Regional Offices. Some of them are:

  1. John Kariuki Kimani
  2. Simon Nduati Kariuki,
  3.  Ludovick Ngera Gachara,
  4. Jerush Waithera Wambui,
  5. Samuel Ngugi Gachuki,
  6. Peter Mburu Mwangi,
  7. Charles Chuaga Ndung’u
  8. Janerose Muthoni Wachira.
  9. Titus Kibui Kariuki
  10. Dominque Mulwa Kasina

The arraignment takes place after the Office of the ODPP agreed with the Commission’s recommendations to prosecute the suspects on sixteen charges of economic crime and corruption.

Other cases involve Peter Mukhanji and Nifrey Tero, who were formerly members of the CDF Committee of the Embakasi South Constituency.

On Thursday, the court is scheduled to render a judgement in a case in which they are accused of misappropriating 2.2 million shillings from the fund’s kitty, which were intended to be used for the purchase of computers during the 2013/2014 fiscal year.

In addition, this week sees the return of Dr. Shem Ochuodho, the former managing director of Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC), as well as Dr. Mohammed Swazuri, the former chairman of the National Land Commission Board. Dr. Ochuodho faces charges of conspiracy to defraud in relation to an irregular loan re-financing that caused KPC to lose over Ksh286 million.

On the other hand, Kenya Railways Corporation accuses Dr. Swazuri of providing erroneous compensation for the purchase of land for SGR, leading to a loss of 222.4 million Kenyan shillings.

This week, the numerous anti-corruption tribunals will hear a number of major corruption cases, including not just these but also a great many others.
