Kakamega Homeboyz chairman Cleophas Shimanyula claims that the Sh 1.2 billion BetKing mega-deal is just hoax.
Speaking on a crisis meeting between Football Kenya Federation (FKF) chiefs and the chairmen of the teams taking part in KPL, Shimanyula said it is just a trick is to cheat Kenyans.
He added that FKF President Nick Mwendwa wants to show that he meant well for local football, for him to be elected and later throw the blame to the government for not allowing the Nigerian betting firm to operate in the country.
“I can assure Kenyans that there is no existing deal with BetKing. From my investigations, I have learned that Mwendwa plans to give each KPL club Sh 500,000, ” he said.
“He wants to get votes to win the forthcoming elections and immediately after winning the second term, he will come out to say that he had sealed the BetKing deal, but the government’s strict rules on betting firms made the firm shy away. Some people may fall into the trap, but not me,” he added Shimanyula.
