Kilimambogo Institute instructors beat a student like an aligator over tractor-driving fight

John Maina, who’s been attending the institution to train as a plant operator, says he attended classes normally at the institute on May 9, 2024, but when he was due for a practical session that involved using an earthmover, his instructor declined to allow him on the equipment, claiming he had cleared that part of the course.

A quarrel broke out, during which Maina claimed the instructor had attacked him. A second instructor intervened, assaulting him.

When the students noticed the altercation, they went to call for help from the school’s administrator, whom Maina claims also joined the other two instructors in assaulting him.

The initial incident began with a quarrel between the student and one of the instructors. Another instructor joined in, and instead of pacifying them, he also started attacking the student.

“Other students called another lecturer, with expectations that he would diffuse the situation. The third instructor also joined in assaulting the boy. At this point, a guard arrived and took him to the security office. At this point, he had sustained severe injuries to his left eye and knee,” according to Anne Wanjiku Maina, John Maina’s mother.

She added that he left the school and boarded a motorcycle with plans to go report at the nearby Kithimani Police Station, but the instructors went ahead of him with a school vehicle and reported that Mr. Maina had been drunk and caused disturbances at the institution.
