My husband has been paying nhif for more than 4 years and has never used the card,some weeks ago he went to the hospital he had chosen as an outpatient n was declined since he is not employed by govt yet nhif chargers him more than 1500.

Most hospitals especially grassroot level refuse NHIF card, they prefer to cover civil servants… The few that accept the card most only cover bed only, it beats the purpose of the scheme… You need to do research on the ground, the card only helps a few..

Imagine nakatwa 1800 from my salary , but I have never used it for the last six year’s , what happened when I took my wife to be treated the hospital asked for more 19 thousand for her to be discharged , #NHIF is a scum
