Meet Pastor Dawson Mudenyo, Head of Faith Diplomacy at the First Lady’s Office, who leads a team of men of God to pray for the nation every morning at State House.

He leads a team of over 100 pastors and intercessors to pray for the country, all at a significant cost to the Kenyan taxpayer.

Faith diplomacy occupies an entire department at the State House in Nairobi, home to the First Lady’s office. Pastors and interns occupy this department, praying for the country every morning when they wake up.

Dr. Dawson Mudenyo, Director of Faith Diplomacy, has reiterated the faith sector’s role in fostering the country’s development.

During the daily prayer at the statehouse, Dr. Mudenyo emphasised the department’s mission as “faith in action,” utilising faith platforms to promote national development.

Critics have criticised the team of intercessors for using state resources and high salaries for their daily prayers. Netizens assert that they have exhausted the resources provided by taxpayers and believe the time has come to live within the nation’s means.

Dr. Mudenyo said the sector has a unique role to play in shaping the values and priorities that underpin a nation’s collective progress. Praying for the country’s stability was the unique call from the country’s first lady, Rachel Ruto.
