A major internal conflict involving Secretary-General Cleophas Malala and a group calling themselves “founding members of UDA” has led to a dramatic standoff outside the party’s headquarters.
Khalende publicly accused Malala of undermining the party’s progress and sabotaging President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga’s Broad-Based Government initiative.
He claims that Malala’s actions are aiding UDA’s rivals and disrupting the party’s development.
According to Khalende, Malala has failed in his responsibilities as Secretary-General, particularly in managing party processes and conducting grassroots elections, which have reportedly been plagued by chaos and legal disputes.
Khalende maintains that Malala has aligned himself with opposing movements, contrary to the party’s objectives, and wants to replace Malala as the Secretary-General.
According to sources, a governor reportedly orchestrated the unrest that goons caused at UDA headquarters as part of ongoing power struggles and deliberate attempts to reduce the DP’s influence within the party.
