Although West Ham manager David Moyes admits it might be hard to control your emotions as a manager, he vows to try not to allow himself to lose control of himself, as Jose Mourinho did in his Europa League final meltdown.
When Moyes was sent off for kicking the ball at a ballboy during the Europa League semifinal match against Eintracht Frankfurt last year, he had a breakdown.
Declan Rice was also given a suspension after implicating Jesus Gil Manzano in money laundering after their 1-0 loss.
Speaking before playing Fiorentina in the final, Moyes said: “We’ve certainly absorbed a couple of things from our journey last year.” Mourinho won the Europa League with Roma last year, “sobbing as he celebrated.
“We struggled to get to the semi-final, had a player sent off, and were all emotionally exhausted by the way the game turned out. We’ve hopefully learned from it.”
In the end, football is a game of feelings. People want to see bosses who are enthusiastic and dedicated to their staff.
The match will be aired live on GOTV and DSTV platforms including on Showmax.
