The Director General of the Communication Authority of Kenya (CA), Ezra Chiloba, has been suspended, as announced in an internal memo by board chair, Mary Mungai, on Monday, following a board meeting.
The suspension comes two years after Chiloba’s appointment to the docket, wherein he took over from Francis Wangusi after his retirement in 2021.
According to his appointment letter, Chiloba was expected to serve in the position for a renewable period of four years.
“Following a meeting of the CA Board held on 18th September 2023, resulting in the suspension of the Director General, I am delighted to notify all staff of the designation of Mr Christopher Wambua as a Director General in Acting Capacity effective today until further notice. I trust that you will accord him the necessary support,” Mungai said.
Christopher Wambua has been appointed as Acting Director General and will assume the position effective immediately until further notice.
Before his appointment to the CA, Chiloba had been sacked as the Chief Executive Officer of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission back in October 2018.
