2 Notorious drug traffickers sentenced to 24 years in Prison

Two notorious traffickers received a hefty 24-year prison sentence for trafficking narcotics worth over Sh4 million after a compelling year-long trial at the JKIA law courts.

On May 22, 2023, officers from the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU) intercepted Hussein Otita Wakhayanga and Daniel Gor John along the Nairobi-Naivasha highway in the Flyover area.

Officers from the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU) intercepted their white Toyota Passo (KCS 679P).

A meticulous search revealed seven sacks and eight packages brimming with dry plant material suspected to be narcotics.

The Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) took charge after whisking the suspects, the seized substances, and the vehicle away to DCI headquarters.

Analysis confirmed that the material was cannabis sativa, tipping the scales at 161.75 kg with an estimated street value of Sh4,852,500.

The JKIA law courts arraigned the suspects on May 29, 2023. Six witnesses took the stand, leading to the conviction of the accused.

The court sentenced them to 24 years in prison and fined them fifty million each, imposing an additional one-year sentence if the fine remains unpaid.

This case underscores the DCI’s unwavering commitment to combating narcotics trafficking.
