The Private Security Regulatory Authority developed new rules for workers from June 2023 to June 2024.
The minimum salary regulation of KES 30,000/= covers over 1.3 million private security officers (security guards). The Private Security Regulatory Authority examined the compliance status of the private security enterprises with this directive.
PSRA dedicated itself to enhancing the well-being and respectability of security personnel. Every day, almost 1.3 million Kenyans put their lives in danger to safeguard property.
According to PSRA, “For them, the KES. 30,000/= remuneration symbolises more than simply money; it’s about honour, dignity, and appropriate recompense for the extreme risks and difficult working conditions they encounter every day.”
“We should treat them with honour, fairness, and respect for their critical role in maintaining our safety and protecting lives and properties.”
The PSRA also warned the private companies that “any private security company that has failed to submit a duly signed and commissioned legal commitment to pay the government-set minimum wage of KES 30,000/= for private security officers (security guards) by the close of business on June 18, 2024 (17th was an Eid public holiday) will face immediate cancellation of their Certificate of Registration and subsequent deregistration from the register of licensed private security service providers.”
