A lawsuit alleges that Moses Wetangula, the speaker of the National Assembly, neglected to pay a debt of Ksh. 281,000 for two German Shepherd dogs.
An agreement to provide two German Shepherd dogs and associated training services is the source of the conflict.
Isoka Bethwel filed a complaint with the Small Claims Court.
In court filings, Bethwel states that Wetangula hired him to perform training services in addition to providing two male German Shepherd dogs.
He asserts that he received approval to supply two bags of dog food. Along with dog grooming brushes, collars, choke chains, and four packs of Brave Active dog food, he also gave away dog training sleeves.
In addition, he provided five litres of dog shampoo, five litres of kennel disinfectant, and a dog nail cutter, for a total of Kshs 348,100.
Bethwel claims that despite the initial payment of Ksh. 100,000, Ksh. 248,100 remains unpaid.
Bethwel asserts that Wetangula has breached the contract by failing to make the necessary payments for the dogs and training services provided.
“I attempted to contact the respondent to recover the balance, but the respondent rudely and adamantly informed me that he would not pay me the remaining balance.” according to court documents.
The claimant asserts that he has no choice but to seek a legal remedy through the judicial system after numerous attempts to obtain payment.
Bethwel further asserts that he is experiencing psychological suffering as a result of the current circumstances, and that if the court does not step in, he will lose his last bit of equilibrium.
“I waited for the payment of the remaining balance of Kenya Shilling Two Hundred and Forty-Eight Thousand, One Hundred (Kshs 198,100/-), but all was in vain.” As Isoka Bethwel asserts.
He is now asking the court for help to make sure he gets the full amount due to him.
Wetangula has yet to address the accusations in public.
