Suntory Beverage & Food Kenya Limited employees are reportedly in limbo as they await crucial documentation, such as redundancy letters and certificates of service, following Bidco Africa Group’s acquisition.
These delays have left the workers uncertain about their future, given how multinationals are exiting the Kenyan market without properly addressing the rights and interests of the employees who have contributed to their operations.
“You should have come across this. Reliable sources report that despite urging Suntory management to communicate clearly and provide them with necessary documentation such as certificates of service and redundancy letters, Suntory employees remain unsatisfied.
“This is a representation of how multinationals are leaving the Kenyan market, leaving many workers unemployed and without their interests for the hard work they have done for those companies.”
The employees are now in limbo. When multinationals abandon their workers without a safety net, who will stand up for the rights of those left in the wake of corporate exits?
