Adani and allies links in Ruto’s Sh104 billion SHIF Health Plan

The following members make up the consortium that won the contract for the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) technology-based system:

  • Apeiro: 59.55%
  • Safaricom: 22.56%
  • Konvergenz Network Solutions: 17.89%

It turns out that Apeiro Ltd., the largest shareholder, has links to the Adani Group through its ownership ties to Sirius International Holding, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi-based International Holding.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) awarded the contract to Safaricom, compelling it to collaborate with two other companies.

The other two companies involved are Apiero, which is based in the Middle East, and Convergence Limited, a Kenyan company associated with a prominent politician.

Apiero is from Abu Dhabi, and they have connections with the Nairobi West Hospital owner.

Sources claim that Safaricom initially rejected the contract, but their chairman, Adil Khawaja, who has a close relationship with a statehouse friend, compelled them to accept it.

Apiero and Convergence will take the remaining Sh103 billion, leaving Safaricom with less than 10%.

Safaricom says it is investing KES 104.8B over 10 years in a consortium with Apeiro Limited and Konvergenz Network Solutions to implement and maintain an Integrated Healthcare Information Technology System (IHTS) for Kenya.
