Johnson Sakaja goes head on with DP Rigathi Gachagua (video)

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja takes the fight with deputy President Rigathi Gachagua a notch higher, saying he is not relenting and is ready for a showdown ahead of the upcoming polls.

The rivalry between Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is slowly escalating into a high-stakes political showdown as the second-in-command attempts to assert his dominance in the increasingly contentious battle for control to steer the direction of city politics.

On Friday, Sakaja took to social media to address Gachagua’s recent comments regarding the relocation of traders from Wakulima Market.

Yesterday, he responded verbally and reiterated his stance on the issue, stating firmly that he will not permit anyone to micromanage the city or interfere with devolution activities in Nairobi County.

Sakaja said that the traders Gachagua claims to defend have been part of his support base since his early political days, dating back to when he was the chairman of the National Alliance (TNA) and later as a Member of Parliament and Senator.

Sakaja noted that the Deputy President appears to resent Gachagua’s alleged impeachment motion, which MPs from his own UDA party are sponsoring.

He accused Gachagua of engaging in an all-out war, in which everyone attacked everything to vent his frustrations about the current political wave against him.

Governor Sakaja also criticized Gachagua’s recent appearance on Citizen TV, where the Deputy President directly challenged President Ruto by urging him to “put his house in order.”

Sakaja has labelled this a major misstep for Gachagua, warning that it could have serious repercussions for his political future.

Mother and joyful journalist.
