The boss of the Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU), Francis Atwoli, now wants President William Ruto to help change the current constitution, as it has short-lived its usefulness after 14 years.
Speaking in Kakamega on Sunday, Atwoli stated that Ruto faces numerous challenges, with the most significant being the need to modify certain aspects of the 2010 Kenyan constitution.
He insisted that while the president may want to have a project in the country, the constitution allows people to move to court and stop the project even when it is a beneficial one.
That created an uproar online with people questioning his motives.
“Why don’t we begin the process of altering COTU laws by implementing term limits? There are some people who have outlived their usefulness,” Joshua wrote on X.
“We are not interested in your government music, Kumbuka Tuko 2024, nor in the 1990s.”
“Mzee, you are still immersed in the past of Mulu Mutisya and Bergetuny. Unfortunately, you can’t rewind the clock.”
